States in Transition Observatory (SITO) is a research and advocacy unit within Idasa’s Political Governance Programme that provides information on and analysis of political developments in countries in transition or crisis. The aim of the unit is to foster a critical understanding of the challenges faced by African countries in respect of democratization, human rights and social justice.
Currently while maintaining a broad theoretical focus on transition, SITO tracks developments in Burundi, the DRC, Swaziland and Zimbabwe.
Please select a country in the drop down box for specific country information.
SITO’s core outputs include:
• Ad hoc political briefs analyzing emerging political developments in focus countries
• In-depth research papers on issues relating to states in transition
• Daily and Monthly Newsflashes signposting key developments in the focus countries.
• Articles, opinion pieces and analysis on the focus countries written by leading experts as well as by the staff of SITO
